5 Key Transitional Pieces

Summer is coming to an end. I’m not crying, you are. It’s almost time to put away the bikinis and dig out the sweaters. If, like me, you cling onto those summer days for as long as you possibly can, then this is a somewhat saddening time. A hard pill to swallow. What were once bright-coloured window displays are now neutral-toned, and that dress you bought back in June is now £6 and stuffed uncomfortably onto a messy sale rail at the back of the shop. Or in the case of a Zara sale, on the floor..
It’s not all doom and gloom, though. There’s always a small part of me that gets excited for sweater season. After all, it’s the perfect excuse to treat yourself to a new item, or ten. That said, the transitional point between summer and autumn can be a little tricky to shop for. Especially for us Brits. In an ever so unpredictable England, the temperature during autumn feels completely random sometimes - one day feels like 20 degrees whilst the next minus penguin. My point is, you want to be prepared whatever the weather, so I thought I’d share some key pieces that will (hopefully) make for a smooth transition.
1. Blazers
You can’t go wrong with a blazer. Ever. These are my current faves;
2. Baggy Tees
Any excuse to throw on a t shirt.. Swapping crop tops for an oversized tee is a very simple (and comfortable) way to create an autumn-approved outfit.
3. Denim Jackets
It goes without saying really. A denim jacket is a transitional MUST-HAVE. And a super sustainable piece, since it will never go out of fashion. Investing in a good denim jacket will last a lifetime. Several lifetimes in fact.
4. Overshirts/Shackets
Not quite a jacket, but more than a shirt. Fabulous invention.
5. Boots
Absolutely ESSENTIAL. Boots are the perfect transitional piece. Style Dr Martens with a skirt and a sweater for a grunge look, or some heeled boots with wide leg jeans and a blazer for an insta-ready style.
