Tennis Chic

“Tennis, but make it fashion”. You might have recently stumbled across this caption on your Instagram or Pinterest feed. It seems that pleated skirts have made a comeback, so here I am to write a short blog post about it. If like me, you’ve been enjoying this crazy tennis trend, but have absolutely zero skills when it comes to actually playing tennis, well at least you’ll look the part. All the gear but no idea has never been a truer statement right now..

Pleated skirts have taken the wonderful world of Instagram influencing by storm and even though it seems a little random, I have to admit, I really like it. Pair with a crop top and/or cardigan for a cute vibe, or an oversized sweatshirt and some chunky trainers for a cooler, street-style look. It’s the perfect sporty-cute ratio.

Pleated skirts aside, I’ve also been loving polo dresses. For a more vintage feel, traditional tennis brands like Lacoste give a classic 90s edge on the polo dress. Alternatively, there are SO many high street brands (ASOS, Misguided, Bershka to name a few) currently stocking some gorgeous polo dresses, but you could also wear an oversized polo shirt as a dress. Add a shoulder bag and some chunky sandals or trainers for a cute but cool daytime number; ideal for lunch dates, shopping trips, or I guess, even a game of tennis?

I have attached all my favourite pieces below to create the perfect tennis-inspired look. It’s mostly just a collection of white pleated skirts, but you get the idea. Additionally, you can find different ways that I’ve styled this trend here.
